Walking theTalk!

I have always been inspired by this particular temple - Sau Seng Lum

Sau Seng Lam in PJ Old Town

This temple was the subject of my first blog on Beyond Buddhism where I shared the about the how environment-friendly they are. Today they continue to be that way too.

Since then, I have been going back there at every available opportunity especially on the New & Full Moon days, the holy-days of the Buddhists.

I was there again last weekend. While there was much development and new structures added. Yet, the principles remains and Ven Chang Heng, looked serene and peaceful - not hurried even though the temple was packed with people and many were busy. Despite the busyness, I too, felt a sense of calm and peace. The main shrine (where usually people do not enter) is my favourite.

I have almost never encountered anyone shouting at each other or being stressed - even though the place could be stressful at times, especially when the food queue got long and food was not enough. Overall, it was peaceful - the way a temple should be.

There is something for everyone. Those who liked the chanting and devotional aspect, there were on-going sessions. Those who liked the the smokey aspects of joss burning - there were lots of it. If you meditation, there's the shrine hall. Of course, not to mention the sick had a place to go. I am reminded that the Buddha once said, "He who serves the sick, serves me" (Mv 8.26.1-8, Kucchivikara-vatthu)

More importantly, they did not seem to "push" any Dharma to teachings to but seek to inspire. It is great to see them "walk the talk" when it comes to Buddhist work.

I have always enjoyed going there. I hope you make a trip there soon.

Check out Sau Seng Lum for maps and directions.

Perhaps it is time to be vegetarians (again)?

If not, we could start without KFC

WESAK is COMING!

While it is suppose to be the holiest time for Buddhist, it seems that it is the BUSIEST time in their lives - organizing activities and just "doin' stuff"

Somewhere along the line, we need to bring back the spirit of Wesak where there are opportunities to experience the peace as the Buddha. Good thing, there are organizations organizing opportunities for quietness & peace in their temples and centers.

Metta as an Agenda in Committee Meetings

Just came back from a Committee Meeting, there were some inter-personal conflict. I suggest we do a session of metta bhavana - which they did!

I think this should be an agenda for all meetings. This is what being a Buddhist it.
